Pete Crow-Armstrong adds another homer to his tally, while Alexander Canario belts two.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, no longer fitting the “prospect” label after graduating from most rankings, was reassigned to Triple-A Iowa this week to regain consistent playing time and further develop his offensive skills.

In his return to Iowa, Crow-Armstrong promptly made an impact, hitting a home run in his first game on Tuesday, followed by two singles and two walks on Wednesday. By Thursday night, he had already notched a double before adding his second homer of the week, a 404-foot blast.

Alex Cohen, the Iowa Cubs announcer, highlighted Crow-Armstrong’s impressive performance, noting his three consecutive multi-hit games since returning to Iowa.

Meanwhile, Crow-Armstrong’s outfield teammate, Alexander Canario, showcased his power in the previous night’s game by hitting two home runs, the second of which traveled 445 feet.

Pete Crow-Armstrong adds another homer to his tally, while Alexander Canario belts two.

Canario’s current batting line at Iowa stands at .286/.375/.571 with a 139 wRC+, showing improvement in his strikeout rate compared to last year. However, his ability to consistently make contact will determine his potential as a long-term starter in the majors. Despite his outstanding power, athleticism, and plate discipline, Canario’s tendency to strike out too often may hinder his success against top-level pitching. At 24 years old, there is still room for Canario to refine his game and further develop, especially considering the current lack of openings in the big league team’s outfield.

The status of the other notable Iowa Cubs outfielders, Brennen Davis and Owen Caissie, remains uncertain, with Davis exiting the previous game early for precautionary reasons and Caissie missing two consecutive games for undisclosed reasons.
